There is no fixed recipe for this snack (see box). Here an attempt to make a slightly healthier version by a more balanced choice of ingredients. Cut the baguette in two and then cut in half, but not completely. Have both halves attached to each other. Fry the fries and the beef burger. Cook the eggs for 10 minutes, cool them, remove and cut into 4 slices. Wash the mixed salad, cut the tomato into slices. Make cocktail sauce with mayonnaise, ketchup and a dash of whiskey. Cut an onion into half-moons and fry in a little butter until they are caramelized (brown in color, but not charred, of course). Fold open the roll, spread with lettuce, fried onion, tomatoes and egg. Cut the beef burger into strips and place them on the vegetables.

This Belgian snack originated in Brussels. It is especially popular in the French-speaking part of the country. But the Flemish frying companies are also increasingly taking up the offer. French bread and fries are the two fixed and distinctive ingredients. The rest is a mix of what the snack bar has in house. The dish is related to the Dutch snack “barbershop”.
